Long flight of stone steps down a side yard, retained with armour rock

A slope is wasted yard until something holds it. Ramada builds retaining walls, raised planter walls and stone steps that turn grade changes into usable space, and ties them into the patio, walkway or driveway around them.

What we build

  • Retaining walls for sloped yards and side yards
  • Raised planter and seating walls beside patios
  • Armour stone edging and raised beds
  • Stone and paver steps for entrances, side yards and walkouts
  • Natural stone slab steps through gardens

How the job runs

  1. Site visit to look at the slope, drainage and access, and to agree where the wall and steps go.
  2. A written quote with the material and the scope.
  3. Excavation and base preparation, then the wall or steps are built up course by course.
  4. Backfill, grading and cleanup, then a walkthrough with you.

Taller walls can need a permit or an engineer's drawing depending on the municipality. We will tell you at the site visit if yours is likely to.

Often built with

Interlocking patios and walkways, new sod and planting beds, so the whole grade change is finished in one visit.

Retaining wall questions

Do you build both walls and steps?
Yes. Most sloped yards need both, and building them together means they line up and drain properly.
What materials do you use?
Wall block, natural stone and armour stone. We bring options to the site visit and quote the one you choose.
Can you tie a wall into an existing patio?
Usually, yes. We look at the existing base and edge at the site visit and tell you what is possible.
